Charlie Nicholas has backed West Ham to beat Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.
The Hammers are currently in the midst of a really poor run of form. They have taken just two points from their last four Premier League outings.
They are still sitting in mid-table, however, whilst Newcastle are hovering just outside the relegation zone.
The Magpies will undoubtedly make things difficult for West Ham, but Manuel Pellegrini’s men should have enough to hurt the visitors.
That Charlie Nicholas’s belief anyway.
The Scot explained why he’s backing West Ham to beat Newcastle 2-1 on Saturday, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports:
“I watched the West Ham game last week. There is always the tendency at home that West Ham become a bit tense, but they should be burying these teams. Against Sheffield United they battered them for 20 minutes and never really made anything. I think Steve Bruce has done a fabulous job at Newcastle. He doesn’t have two up front to play and he loves playing with two strikers. Everything he has had to build, he has done so from the back, so they have to go back to front, but Newcastle’s away record is good – they will frustrate them but West Ham will just edge it.”
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-1
West Ham will have to come out and have a right go at Newcastle, as Steve Bruce will most probably set his side up to defend and play on the counter attack.
The Hammers desperately need a win. And if Pellegrini’s side do beat the Geordies they could jump back inside the top six.
