Tammy Abraham suffered a hip injury against Valencia last night, and that could be a big blow for Chelsea ahead of their clash with West Ham on Saturday.
The 22-year-old hitman has been in scintillating form this season, racking up 10 goals in 13 Premier League appearances thus far.
Chelsea welcome an out-of-from West Ham side to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. And the Hammers will be delighted if they do not have to face Abraham.
If the England international does indeed miss the match, either Michy Batshuayi or Olivier Giroud will fill in for him. And neither of those have really impressed this season.
Abraham did tell the BBC that his injury isn’t as bad as he first feared, however:
“It’s much better than when it happened. I was fearful of the worst when it happened but when got into the changing room, I could walk about. I’ll have a scan and hopefully it’s just bruising.”
So by the sounds of it, the 22-year-old could indeed be in contention to face West Ham.
The Hammers would have a far greater chance of winning the game if Batshuayi or Giroud lead the line for the Blues, however.
