When speaking to reporters, West Ham youngster Ben Johnson absolutely raved about his new teammate Pablo Fornals, labelling the midfielder as a ‘great player’.
The 23-year-old joined the Hammers from Villarreal last month, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £24 million (BBC Sport).
And great things are expected of the mercurial Spaniard.
Fornals is an attack-minded midfielder, and he will undoubtedly add even more creativity and guile to West Ham’s attacking play.
The east London outfit are expected to push for a top seven finish this season. And with the Spaniard now on board, they will have every chance of doing just that.
Johnson, who has high expectations himself this term, sat down to speak with the club’s official website, and offered high words of praise for his new teammate Fornals:
“Pablo is a great player and a great guy. He’s so friendly and you can see technically what he is all about. He plays with intelligence and you can see that in the positions he picks up. You can see he is going to be a top player for us.”
If Fornals hits the ground running at the London Stadium, he could prove to be one of the signings of the summer.
He has already looked sharp in pre-season.
The intensity of the Premier League will be an entirely different level for the 23-year-old, however.
Fornals has all the ingredients to be a success at West Ham. And Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping that he lives up to the hype.
