Arsenal defender Sokratis has suggested that West Ham have every chance of finishing inside the top four this season, when speaking exclusively to the Evening Standard.
The Hammers have made an impressive start to their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, and they currently sit in fifth spot in the table, having taken 12 points from their opening seven games.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side seem to be like a really unified outfit this season. They will undoubtedly represent a real challenge to all of the top sides.
Do they have enough to force their way inside the top four, however?
Sokratis certainly thinks so.
The Gunners defender spoke exclusively to the Evening Standard, and was asked whether West Ham can crack the top four this season:
“Why not? The Premier League is the best in the world. You have two, three, four or maybe five teams that are a little step above of the others but you see other teams like Leicester and West Ham doing very well and because of this it is a very difficult league.”
The Hammers face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday. And a win there could see them jump inside the top four.
West Ham have been good this season, but they do need to find a certain level of consistency, if they are going to challenge for the Champions League spots.
And only time will tell whether they have enough over the course of a 38 game season to do just that.
