Andriy Yarmolenko opened his account for West Ham this season with a goal against Norwich City yesterday. And the Ukrainian was in buoyant mood after the match.
The Hammers climbed up to fifth spot in the Premier League table after yesterday’s win.
And West Ham fans are now believing that anything is possible this season.
Yarmolenko himself will be delighted to be back and playing, having spent the majority of last season on the sidelines through injury.
The 29-year-old will undoubtedly have a key role to play for the Hammers now. Especially after Michail Antonio sustained a hamstring injury on Tuesday night.
West Ham will be desperate to finish inside the Europa League spots this season.
And Yarmolenko suggested that the Hammers ‘must’ finish inside the top six, when speaking to the club’s official website:
“I just want to say ‘Thank you’ to our fans. There was a great atmosphere today and now we just need to keep working every day and play every game better and we will see at the end what happens. I think we have a lot of players and we must finish in the top six.”
West Ham now have two weeks off due to the international break.
They return to action against Aston Villa on Monday September 16th, and a win against Dean Smith’s side could move them inside the top four.
And if they are to finish inside the top six, they really will need to win games against the likes of Aston Villa.
