Reports late tonight have been circling tonight, suggesting that Allardyce could be sacked after the Manchester City game on Sunday. According the Daily Mail a decision has been made privately to sack Allardyce after the City game. He has now become an unpopular figure again, as a result of his boring football. A poll by 16 West Ham sites further highlighted that fans had had enough of him, with 77% voting for him to be sacked.
The news of the possible sacking will come as a blessing to most West Ham fans. However I can see where other fans are coming from. This is because he has achieved his targets at West Ham. These have been to get us promoted at the first time of asking and keep us in the Premier League. Perhaps this season we should have aimed higher but we did not want to suffer a case of second season syndrome. So, in some ways it could be seen as harsh to sack Big Sam.
However Sam Allardyce has been poor in the transfer market. Let’s take Andy Carroll for example. Now I am not criticising Andy Carroll, as I do like him and think he is a good player. However why did we sign him permanently while he was injured? We still do not know if Carroll can last a full season as he has been injured for a considerable amount of time in the two season we have had him.
Personally I am still sitting on the fence in regards to the sacking of Allardyce. If we sack him we risk relegation, as he is good at keeping teams up. However if we keep him then we will be watching boring football for seasons to come.
