Albian Ajeti sent a strong message to Manuel Pellegrini, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, suggesting that he is ready to start for West Ham.

The Hammers signed the Switzerland international from Basel in the summer for around £8 million, according to BBC Sport.

The 22-year-old has struggled for game-time thus far, however. He’s made just one appearance for West Ham, and that came in the Carabao Cup against Newport County.

The problem for Ajeti is that Sebastien Haller is clearly Pellegrini’s first-choice striker, and because the Chilean prefers to play with one man on top, the Swiss ace’s route to regular first-team action is a complicated one.

The former Basel man was in bullish mood when speaking to the club’s official website, however.

Ajeti said:

“I feel in myself that the coach trusts a lot in me, and he knows I’ll do everything to get my minutes on the pitch. The coach knows my qualities and I have big self-confidence and believe I can rise to every challenge. It’s just important to continue to do my work as well as I can and hopefully more opportunities will come. I am ready, and the coach knows he can put me in every game. I’m waiting for every game, for the cup games and even in the Premier League.”

The 22-year-old will surely start tonight’s clash against Oxford united.

And he absolutely has to impress when given the chance by Pellegrini. Ajeti at least needs to show the Chilean that he can offer him something different.

And a couple of goals in the Carabao Cup tonight will do the Swiss hitman the world of good.
