West Ham were quite simply brilliant last night. We comfortably swept aside a very good Wolves side.

In other news…West Ham’s reported £29m double swoop makes far more sense than Tarkowski move

Every single Hammers player left the field with their heads held high.

Unfortunately for Ryan Fredericks, however, his night ended early. The 27-year-old  left the field after 49 minutes due to a seemingly torn hamstring.

And that is a really big blow for the former Fulham man and David Moyes.

W entered the summer with a real need to strengthened our right-back department. But Fredericks’ fine form in the opening games meant that Moyes could spend his limited budget elsewhere.

With Ben Johnson and Harrison Ashby coming through, we have some real talent waiting in the wings. But with Fredericks likely to be out for at least three weeks now, Moyes must act.

According to a report from The Daily Mirror (September 27th, page 70), the West Ham boss wants to sign Everton right-back Seamus Coleman before next month’s transfer deadline.

And despite the fact that the 31-year-old doesn’t fit the age profile of players Moyes wants to bring to the London Stadium, he is exactly what we need right now.

The Irishman is dependable and proven at the very highest level. Ashby and Johnson could learn so much from Coleman.

We should offer the Everton man a two-year deal, and he would undoubtedly serve us well for that short period of time.

Fredericks’ injury last night was the only thing that tarnished what was otherwise a sensational performance and result.

Now it’s up to Moyes to ensure that we don’t subsequently suffer from that.
