Ravel Morrison has been fantastic this pre-season and as fantastic for Birmingham last year. He managed 3 goals and 3 assists in 27 appearances for the blues, picking up 13 man of the match performances. This loan would of benefited Ravel greatly. As we know the Championship is a very physical league.
However Morrison’s attitude off the field has caused concern many times. Problems with Morrison’s attitude in training led Lee Clark to consider terminating his loan. However he came back with an influential performance against Leicester City. The English midfielder has been fined many times for various reasons. However after Ravel’s loan spell and various tweets from the player. I believe he has changed and will be a great player for the Hammers in the future.  Sir Alex let him go to West Ham for 1 million pounds. This could be a great deal if he continues the way he is.
In pre-season Ravel has been nothing short of fantastic. The most recent against Sporting Lisbon. Scoring 2 goals against a team of that calibre is no easy feat. At the tail end of the game, I started to notice the Sporting Lisbon players foul Ravel on 2 occasions, clearly showing his talent was too much for them to handle. Ravel has now bagged 6 goals in pre-season (at the time of writing).
Kevin Nolan said:
“The lad has got ability. It was all the off-field stuff and his mental attitude to the game and I think he has come back [with a renewed approach]. Speaking to Lee Clark when I’ve had the chance to, he said he really worked hard with him and towards the end of last season he really had him on board and that’s what you have got to have with Rav.
“Last year, he started off like that but he let himself down off the field with not turning in and things like that. I’m not pulling him out because he is a lovely kid and we want him to do well and that’s why we’ve worked so hard. Hopefully now he’s seen the benefit of being around us all the time and going out on loan and seeing what it’s all about.
“Hopefully now this will be the start of what is going to be a fantastic career for him, because as you can see he has great ability and can score goals too. I’m going to help him as much as I can this season, talking to him on the pitch and off the pitch. If he can get it all right, he’ll be a top player for years to come.”
It is great to see an experienced player such as Nolan understands Ravel and can see he has talent. Last but not least Will Ravel get on for the hammers this year?
We have such a strong midfield and a lot of depth in there as well but with O’Neil gone, if one the regular boys is injured hopefully Sam will pick him. I reckon he will start in the FA cup games and the League Cup games. I believe Ravel will be on the fringes of the the team this year. Then next year I believe he will start.
What is also promising is that the lad is only 20 years old. Both the Davids have stated on Twitter that they believe Ravel has a bright future. I very much believe we have a real talent on our hands here. I believe Ravel could be a future England international.
