‘What this manager does’: Jarrod Bowen makes debatable claim about David Moyes

Jarrod Bowen has praised West Ham United manager David Moyes for making this current side really hard to beat.

Now, considering the fact that the Hammers have lost five games from eight Premier League outings this season, that’s a fairly strange thing to say isn’t it?

In fairness though, we get the sentiment.

West Ham are a completely different animal to the team that suffered so badly under Manuel Pellegrini.

And in a way, David Moyes has been a victim of his own success. The Scot probably didn’t anticipate to bring success to the London Stadium so quickly.

And back-to-back European qualifying campaigns means that the Hammers fans’ expectations have risen as a result.

That’s what the start to this season has been so frustrating, because we all know what we’re capable of, especially with players like Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta now on board.

West Ham’s form has been so bad that rumours have even begun to circulate about Moyes potentially losing his job, and being replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.

Saturday’s win against Wolves was absolutely vital for the club. And Jarrod Bowen has praised his teammates and Moyes for the way in which they setup for the game…

Jarrod Bowen makes debatable claim about David Moyes

The 25-year-old Hammers attacker scored on Saturday as the Hammers earned a huge win over Wolves.

And Bowen praised Moyes for the way in which he has made this team ‘so hard to beat’, when speaking to WHUFC.com:

We wanted to be a bit more clinical and dominant with our performances. I thought we suffered against Wolves without the ball, but what this manager does is make us a tough group to beat and break down. You saw on the counter-attack the chances we had and then we scored two well-taken goals.  A clean sheet as well which the defenders will love and it’s a massive three points for us with a lot of games coming up. Hopefully this is the first of many wins we can pick up along the way.

Now, what Bowen has said is true, if you take the last two years into account.

However, West Ham have become stale and predictable in my opinion and we’ve been far from hard to beat this season in the Premier League.

We’re more than happy for Moyes to be given time to adapt and turn things around this season, he has plenty of credit in the bank after all.

Le’s not kids ourselves though, the 2-0 win against Wolves was far from convincing.

39% possession at home against a team near the bottom of the table is quite simply not good enough.

Let’s hope that results and performances start improving, and fast.

Jarrod Bowen has lent his support to David Moyes. Now it’s time for the Scot to really step up.
