West Ham United fans probably thought they couldn’t love Declan Rice any more than they already do.
Insider explains West Ham’s mystery absence, makes claim about future
Well think again because the Hammers hero has just provided another insight into what makes his relationship with them so special.
Rice may have grown up playing for and supporting West Ham’s London rivals Chelsea.

Declan Rice and West Ham, a match made in heaven
But there is no doubting he is a homegrown Hammer through and through nowadays.
His love for West Ham is only matched by the love the club’s supporters have for the current captain.
And behind the scenes footage from West Ham has captured a brilliant moment which underlines what a special guy Dec is.
After another contender for man of the match performance in the victory over Sheffield United, Rice was being interviewed by West Ham’s media team by the pitch while the rest of the team were on the bus.
Footage shows Rice and the interviewer being hurried by a member of West Ham’s comms department.

‘Listen, for the fans we give a great interview’
“We’ve actually gotta be quite quick, sorry mate,” the interviewer is told out of shot by the man from West Ham comms department (West Ham YouTube).
To which Dec responded: “No, listen, for the fans we give a great interview.”
It is a magic little moment which will enamour Rice to West Ham fans even more.
And it wasn’t just words. Rice duly gave up the time to give a great interview for the club’s channels while the team waited to depart for London.

Rice the poster boy for refreshing new Hammers era
Too often in the past West Ham have had players past their best on big money who cared little about the club.
Things seem so different under David Moyes.
And Rice is a leading figure in West Ham’s promising evolution.
West Ham must do everything in their power to get the midfielder tied down to a new long-term contract. And as soon as possible.
The prospect of a return to Chelsea will linger until that happens.
