West Ham fans have come up with a hilarious new chant to celebrate the new claret carpet which surrounds the playing field at The London Stadium.

For Saturday’s game against Leicester City, West Ham fans were able to see the claret carpet for the first time.

It was installed during the week and it covers the area around the pitch. Michail Antonio has already got familiar with it. The West Ham winger celebrated scoring the opening goal on Saturday by laying down and stroking the new carpet.

But West Ham fans showed they also have a sense of humour by creating a new song for the carpet.

We’ve got Payet, Dimitri Payet

Back when fan favourite Dimitri Payet was starring for West Ham, the fans honoured him with a song.

To the tune of Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus, West Ham fans sang:

We’ve got Payet. Dimitri Payet. I just don’t think you understand. He’s super Slav’s man. He’s better than Zidane. We’ve got Dimitri Payet.”

That song was then adopted and modified by England fans at Euro 2016 for the tournament theme song “Don’t Take Me Home“.

Now West Ham fans have adapted it to fit with lyrics celebrating the new claret carpet. The song (as shown on Twitter by West Ham clips via @whufc_news) goes:

We’ve got carpet. Claret carpet. I just don’t think you understand. Delivered by a man. In a transit van. We’ve got claret carpet.
