West Ham starlet Xande Silva has been pictured in training with the first-team. Ahead of Southampton’s visit to The London Stadium, Silva has been training with the senior squad.
Manuel Pellegrini could give the 22-year-old a chance before the end of the campaign. With West Ham sitting 11th and little to play for, fringe players like Silva might get an opportunity.
But the Hammers have a full-strength squad and Silva would need to leapfrog Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez in the pecking order.
Xande Silva at West Ham
West Ham signed Silva from Vitoria Guimaraes last summer and he impressed straight away. Silva endeared himself to fans with a hat-trick against Tottenham on his U23 debut. He now has seven goals in eight Premier League 2 matches and made his first-team debut earlier this season.
The Portugal youth international was handed his debut as a substitute in the 2-0 loss at Burnley in December. He followed this up with a 79-minute cameo against Birmingham City in the FA Cup.
But injuries have held him back this season and restricted him to just two first-team appearances. There are two more Premier League matches this season and Silva will be hoping to take part.
After being pictured in training, perhaps Pellegrini is ready to place his faith in Silva against Southampton and Watford.
