West Ham Women progressed to the quarter-finals of the SSE Women’s FA Cup with a dominant victory on Sunday.

The Hammers brushed Huddersfield Town Ladies aside with an eye-catching 8-1 victory at Rush Green. It put the men’s team to shame, considering their recent exit.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side bowed out with an embarrassing 4-2 defeat to League One’s bottom club AFC Wimbledon last month.

But Matt Beard’s Women’s team are still in with a shout of winning silverware, as they prepare for the quarter-final draw.

West Ham had an early scare as Huddersfield’s Kate Mallin put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after 14 minutes.

But Kate Longhurst got the Irons level on 22 minutes before Leanne Kiernan’s 27th minute goal gave West Ham the lead.

Quickfire goals from Alisha Lehmann and Jane Ross ensured West Ham were in control at half-time with a 4-1 scoreline.

And the Hammers continued to impress in the second half as Kiernan chalked up her hat-trick, while Rosie Kmita and Brianna Visalli also scored.

Kiernan was voted Hammer of the Match by sponsor Niche Solutions and rightly so. The Republic of Ireland international scored three goals and also picked up an assist.
