Javier Hernandez believes West Ham can still qualify for Europe with a late charge for seventh spot, the club’s official website reports.
Chicharito was the hero for West Ham at the weekend, scoring two late goals to inspire a comeback victory against Huddersfield Town.
The three points pushed West Ham to within two points of Wolverhampton Wanderers in seventh place as the battle for the final European spot rumbles on.
Javier Hernandez sets his target
Hernandez is targeting a top seven finish this season and the chance to play in Europe, although West Ham need to find more consistency in the run-in.
The Mexican striker told the club’s official website: “The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world and because of that every game, home or away, is going to be difficult.
“I try to do my best to be in my best shape and give my best performances for this Club and, like I said, hopefully we can finish in the top seven.”
The battle for seventh
With the top six decided, there is one Europa League spot up for grabs and Wolves are in pole position.
Wolves (44) and Watford (43) have a game in hand on West Ham (42) with the Hammers preparing for their final seven games.
There are several other teams in the hunt. Leicester (41), Everton (40) and Bournemouth (38) are all within six points of Wolves.
