West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been named in the WhoScored Team of the Season. Fabianski’s efforts for the Hammers have been recognised by the stats-based website.
WhoScored compiles a seasonal top-performing XI based on each players’ stats from their games. And this season, Fabianski has proven to be the best goalkeeper in the league, according to the WhoScored charts.
WhoScored Team of the Season
Fabianski takes the spot between the sticks with an average rating of 7.0. The system is a 4-4-2 with Liverpool and Manchester City unsurprisingly dominating the team.
In defence, Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira and Everton’s Lucas Digne take the full-back spots. Meanwhile, Virgil Van Dijk and Fabian Schar feature in central defence.
Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho (both Man City), Paul Pogba (Manchester United) and Eden Hazard (Chelsea) make up the midfield quartet.
Mo Salah (Liverpool) and Sergio Aguero (Man City) are the two strikers. With a 7.8 average rating, Hazard is WhoScored’s top performing Premier League player this season.
Lukasz Fabianski for West Ham
Fabianski joined West Ham from relegated Swansea City last season. And his arrival has proven to be a masterstroke. The 34-year-old has defied his age and enjoyed a superb debut season in East London.
The Poland international picked up the Hammer of the Year award as fans recognised his class. He also has the most Premier League saves in the 2018/19 season. West Ham fans will be hoping for more of the same next season from Fabianski.
