Hammers fans buzzing over Haller capture

The move has West Ham fans buzzing.

And West Ham legend Ian Bishop is no different.

The silky former Hammers midfielder now lives in America but still keeps a keen eye on his old club.

Bishop was so excited by the arrival he sent Haller a message on Twitter.

Bishop welcomed the 6ft 3in forward to the club and told him what he needs to do to be a success.

Legend gives striker some advice

“Love the club, love the shirt, give your all,” Bishop told Haller.

“Treat the fans with the respect they deserve and they will take you to their hearts.

“You will not have known anything like it.

“Become their hero.”

Bishop’s message was met with a chorus of approval from West Ham fans, as you can see from the responses on the post.

Supporters loved seeing their loyalty trumpeted by a club legend to the new signing.

All football fans believe their following are among the best.

But besides their razor sharp terrace wit West Ham are one of the most fiercely loyal sets of fans around.

The club has had the second highest number of season ticket holders in England since the move to Stratford with over 52,000.

West Ham used to sell out Upton Park too, even in the Championship.

And the Hammers’ away following is famous.

That’s despite the club not having won a major trophy for more than 40 years.

Hopefully with Haller leading the line that will soon change.
