Declan Rice is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2024 and West Ham have an option of extending that deal by a further 12 months.

The 13-capped England international has been in superb form for the Hammers this season. And if he keeps that up big clubs will undoubtedly be in for him in the summer.

Rice has already been linked heavily with Chelsea (The Times) and Manchester United (Daily Mail).

Whether Rice accepts the terms offered to him, however, is another matter entirely.

The bottom line is that we have to offer him whatever he wants. We have to make him club captain and match his ambition in the transfer market in January and next summer.

If we can’t do that, nobody will be able to blame Rice if he does in fact decide to leave West Ham.

Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen.
