According to a report from La Nazione, Leeds have made an offer for Fiorentina ace Erick Pulgar, and West Ham are in the race to sign him as well.
The Hammers and the Whites could both do with central midfield reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
And it seems as though David Moyes and Marcelo Bielsa could be set for a head to head battle for Erick Pulgar.
The 26-year-old Chilean is a tenacious, combative competitor. And he would undoubtedly flourish at either the London Stadium or Elland Road.
West Ham have been linked with a move for the Fiorentina ace since June (Estadio Deportivo).
But the east London outfit apparently now have Leeds for company, with La Nazione claiming that the Whites have lodged a £10 million bid for the midfielder.
Pulgar racked up seven goals and six assists in 37 league games for Fiorentina last season (Who Scored).
In those 37 Serie A outings for the Italian outfit, the 24-capped Chile international averaged 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.3 clearances per game (Who Scored).
During those appearances, Pulgar averaged 40.2 passes per game with a hugely impressive completion rate of 88% (Who Scored).
The Chilean is clearly an all-round, all-action midfielder. And he would be a great addition for West Ham. It seems as though Leeds have made the first move, however.
And it will be very hard for the Hammers to compete with the Whites financially.
