Pedro Obiang made his long-awaited return to football yesterday during a 5-0 win for Sassuolo, and the West Ham fans will be delighted for him.
The 30-year-old left West Ham for Sassuolo in the summer of 2019 for around £7.2 million, according to BBC Sport.
Sassuolo announced on the club’s official website back in 2021:
At the moment, for prudential purposes, it will be necessary to abstain from sporting activity, the duration of which will be evaluated in the near future.

The former Spain youth international moved to the Hammers in the summer of 2015 from Sampdoria and went on to make 116 appearances for the club (Soccerbase).
He was a real fan favourite art Upton Park and the London Stadium, and will always be remembered for his absolute rocket of a strike away at Tottenham in 2017.
And the West Ham fans will be delighted to hear that Obiang is back playing again…
Pedro Obiang makes return to football for Sassuolo
The 30-year-old midfielder played 10 minutes for Sassuolo yesterday during their 5-0 Serie A win over Salernitana.
Before yesterday, the last time that Obiang played for Sassuolo was on May 16th 2021 – 504 days ago!
That really was heartwarming to see.

We were really sad to see Obiang leave West Ham three years ago. He actually would have been a very good squad player for David Moyes to sue over the past couple of years.
The West Ham fans remember him fondly for always giving 100% every time that he played for us but he was also seen as somewhat of a cult hero after supposedly removing Dimitri Payet from the West Ham WhatsApp group chat when the Frenchman downed tools to force a move back to Marseille (The Independent).
Pedro Obiang returning to action is wonderful for him, having gone through so much pain and torment over the past 17 months or so.
I am sure all West Ham fans will join Hammers News in wishing Obiang all the best for the future.
