West Ham ended 2018 with a disappointing defeat against struggling Burnley.

Despite winning five in six before yesterday’s game, West Ham were poor all game at Turf Moor.

In the absence of Fabian Balbuena, Manuel Pellegrini has been forced to use Angelo Ogbonna at centre-back.

The Italy international has been a regular at West Ham over the years but he has lost his place this season.

And he showed signs of rustiness against Burnley, falling asleep for the Clarets’ second goal.

The 30-year-old was caught out on a few occasions by a Burnley attack that has rarely troubled the opposition defence this season.

When Ogbonna has played this season, he has been the subject of criticism from West Ham supporters and the Burnley game was not an exception.

West Ham fans took to Twitter to share their opinions on Ogbonna’s display and they were highly critical.
