Claret and Hugh claimed today that Tomas Soucek is being lined up to be West Ham’s next captain when Mark Noble is out of the side, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the news.
The 25-year-old joined the east London outfit on loan from Slavia Prague in January. And he has already really impressed, despite having played only four games for West Ham.
Soucek has racked up eight tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances and 10 ball recoveries. He has also won 23 individual duals and 13 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
The Czech’s athleticism, energy and determination has added so much to the way in which the Hammers play.
And Claret and Hugh claims that he has impressed so much that he is being lined up to be the Hammers’ next club captain.
Soucek does seem like he could be a great leader for the east Londoners. But surely Declan Rice will have something to say about that?
The 21-year-old has been one of West Ham’s best performers over the past two years. And despite his tender years, he oozes every single trait needed to be a captain.
