David Moyes’s patronising comments surely spell the end of player’s West Ham career

The reliable West Ham insider spoke on the West Ham Way podcast on Thursday July 2nd, and said:

“Tripp is obviously one of the shareholders. He has basically looked to form a consortium. The people who I speak to, a number of very very well placed people who are close to Tripp tell me that there is truth in this. And I often get messages saying ‘I’m telling you there is truth in this Ex’. And they have often got things right in the past for me not to doubt them.”

If true, there could be extremely exciting times ahead for the Hammers.

Fortunes always hiding

The London Stadium faithful have been discontented with David Sullivan and David Gold and their running of the club for quite some time now.

Tensions have slowly simmered to the surface over the past four years since West Ham moved from Upton Park to the London Stadium in 2016.

And the Hammers fans were further incensed when the board chose to reappoint David Moyes in December 2019.

West Ham need genuine investment if they are to make real progress over the next five years or so.

And Tripp Smith seems to have the kind of clout that could take the east London club to an entirely new level.

The American is a managing director at the Blackstone Group, who acquired GSO Capital Partners in 2008 for around $1 billion dollars. And as of 2018, they manage more than $140 billion worth of assets (Wikipedia).

So were they to take a controlling interest in West Ham, the east Londoners would surely be able to compete with the big boys financially.


Some Hammers fans took to Twitter and delivered mixed reactions to the claims suggesting that Tripp Smith could be plotting a takeover of the club, however…
