Manuel Pellegrini rang the changes for this game. After losses against Crystal Palace and Everton either side of the international break, something had to change. Manuel Lanzini was dropped to the bench with Snodgrass coming in.
The Scotsman retired from international duty over the break. But he showed he still has life left in his legs with a strong performance for West Ham. His commitment was unmatched by his team-mates and he deserved his goal.
Right at the end of the first half, Snodgrass raced onto a through ball from Andriy Yarmolenko and slotted past Dean Henderson. This gave West Ham a slender lead going into the break but they could not capitalise and pick up three points.
