West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini opted to play Pablo Fornals ahead of his tried-and-tested options yesterday.
The Hammers were beaten 2-0 by Everton as the poor form continued after the international break. Going forward, Pellegrini’s men were toothless and unable to break down a struggling Everton team.
Before the game, West Ham fans were concerned by the inclusion of Fornals. The Spaniard has struggled since joining West Ham and he was preferred to in-form Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko.
During the international break, Yarmolenko played twice for Ukraine as his country qualified for the Euros. The left-footed winger also scored for Ukraine, slotting in against Portugal.

Then, when West Ham were 1-0 down at half-time, Pellegrini decided it was time for Yarmolenko. But rather than take Fornals off, he kept the 23-year-old on. Instead, Felipe Anderson left the pitch.
Admittedly, the Brazilian winger has not hit the heights he did last season. But Fornals was also ineffective. Here are some tweets from annoyed West Ham fans as Pellegrini kept the faith with misfiring midfielder Fornals.
