The Telegraph made the claim late last night.
The Hammers moved to their new home in Stratford home from Upton Park back in 2016.
The West Ham faithful were very upset at the time and understandably so.
Upton Park was our spiritual home. I would say that it still is…but there are now plush new flats in place of where the famous old ground once stood.

The Hammers move to the London Stadium coincided with ill-feeling towards the club’s owners.
Perhaps the tide could be turning, however.
West Ham fans praise GSB for London Stadium business acumen
The Hammers pay around £2.5 million per year in rent for use of the London Stadium. That amount allegedly doesn’t even cover the costs of running the arena on match-days (BBC). That in itself proves how good a deal the owners struck for the stadium.

The Telegraph reckon that taxpayers are set to foot the £35m bill for new seats and stewards.
This means that the ground could be increased to closer to 66,000 capacity at no cost to the club.
Whilst it’s not ideal for the taxpayers to be funding London Stadium improvements, you knock the business acumen of our owners…in this particular situation at least.
