West Ham United have a new hero in Felipe Anderson and boy are they going to need him.

Rather predictably for West Ham they top the Premier League table when it comes to injuries.

Manuel Pellegrini is without eight key first team players with Marko Arnautovic the latest ruled out.

The Austrian is expected to be out until the new year.

That means West Ham are seriously lacking in creativity with Manuel Lanzini ruled out for the season alongside Andriy Yarmolenko.

West Ham desperate for a new hero as injury crisis deepens

Meanwhile Jack Wilshere has picked up a new ankle injury after his latest comeback.

Thankfully for Pellegrini the club’s record signing Felipe Anderson is emerging as West Ham’s new talisman just in time.

The Brazilian suffered an indifferent start to his Hammers career after a £40 million move from Lazio.

Consistency has been a problem for the fleet-footed star.

But things look to be falling into place for Anderson just when West Ham need him most.

A brace against Burnley could have been four and he has followed that up with some superb performances since, particularly in wins over Newcastle and Cardiff City.

Boy from Brazil fast-becoming a talisman

Anderson’s skill, pace and poise is seeing him become a Premier League star.

And Hammers fans have fallen for the man who names superstar Neymar as one of his closest friends.

West Ham supporters have been waxing lyrical about the former Santos man as they go in search of three consecutive league wins.

Comparisons have been drawn with former hero Dimitri Payet.

There are striking similarities.

And in terms of goals Anderson, with five already, is well on his way to matching the 12 scored by Payet in his first season at the Hammers.
