If anyone doubted the close bond between West Ham United’s Czech mates Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal then they got a glimpse during a worrying incident in the win over Tottenham.

West Ham could make Champions League in fifth but could also miss out in fourth

The inseparable pair have been a revelation at West Ham.

Both are already West Ham cult heroes. And if they stick around over the next few years legend status surely beckons.

Against Tottenham the pair showed once again just why they are so well loved by fans and teammates alike.

Czech mates Soucek and Coufal are already Hammers cult heroes

Soucek took a nasty blow to the head which gushed with blood. But he jumped up to make sure he was on the line to block a Spurs effort at goal.

He ran off to the changing room to get stitched up before returning and putting in a crucial performance in the middle of the park for West Ham.

Coufal also took a nasty blow when Lukasz Fabianski clattered into him at speed in the second half.

At first it looked as though the defender had been knocked out. Craig Dawson put Coufal on his side as players gathered round.

But West Ham fans loved what they saw next.

West Ham fans loved what they saw Soucek do when best friend got smashed against Spurs

From nowhere Coufal’s best mate Soucek came spriting into shot to make sure the right-back was breathing and conscious.

The genuine concern on Soucek’s face was touching to see.

It turned to smiles when Soucek realised Coufal was awake and OK.

And Dawson even had a light-hearted joke with him about his concern for his international teammate.

Tottenham star Lucas Moura should also be praised for he too showed genuine concern for Coufal’s welfare.

And the Brazilian could also be seen reassuring West Ham hero Soucek.

It was another in a long list of memorable moments which underline the spirit at West Ham this season.

And it is that very spirit West Ham fans will be hoping carries their side into Europe come what May.
