The 26-year-old has hardly featured for the Hammers this season. But he was given his chance by David Moyes against the Gunners tonight.
All West Ham fans know that Masuaku is not the best defender in the world. But he is extremely dangerous when deployed in a more advanced role.
And the former Olympiacos man showed what he is capable of tonight. The 26-year-old’s passing left a lot to be desired, but his skill and dribbling ability provided us with more impetus in our attacking play down the left wing.
Since moving to the London Stadium four years ago, Masuaku has never really been utilised correctly. There is clearly a place for him in the West Ham team. And Moyes must start using him more regularly.
If the Scot persists with a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formation, the 26-year-old surely should start most games.
Ideally we would set up with Arthur as a left wing-back and either Felipe Anderson, Jarrod Bowen or Michail Antonio occupying one of the attacking spots alongside Sebastien Haller.
