The Czech Republic international’s loan deal from Slavia Prague was due to expire on June 30th, but that has now been extended to the end of the 2019/20 season (WHUFC.com).
The 25-year-old has proven to be an absolutely brilliant addition for the Hammers since moving to the London Stadium on loan in January.
West Ham paid a £3.5 million loan fee for the 25-year-old, and could make the signing a permanent one in the summer for a further £13.5 million, according to the Guardian. But they do have to remain in the Premier League on order to make that happen.
Stats
In four Premier League games, Soucek has racked up eight tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances and 10 ball recoveries. He has also won 23 individual duals and 13 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
The Czech’s athleticism, energy and determination has added so much to the way in which the Hammers play.
He would clearly be worth every penny of the reported £13.5 million it will cost to sign him permanently.
And loads of Hammers fans have shared their delight on Twitter after hearing the news that Soucek will be hanging around until at least the end of this season…
