West Ham fans beg Joao Mario to come back after he posts tweet

Some West Ham fans have begged Joao Mario to come back to the club on Twitter.

The Portugal international joined the Hammers on loan from Inter Milan in January 2018. He was brought to the club by current manager David Moyes during the Scot’s first stint in charge of West Ham.

His time at the London Stadium was mixed, however.

The 27-year-old racked up two goals and one assist in 14 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

Mario is a technically gifted footballer. And he demonstrated his quality during his six-month loan spell in the Premier League. But the pace and ferocity of the English game often proved to be too much for him.

And he was sent back to Inter in the summer of 2018.

One of the Portuguese’s best moments in a West Ham shirt came when he scored an absolute thunderbolt from the edge of the area during a big win over Southampton.

The Hammers posted a video of that goal to their official Twitter account today.

And Mario responded:

And some West Ham fans have pleaded with the 27-year-old midfielder to return to the London Stadium as soon as possible…
