According to a report from the Mirror, Chelsea are ready to move for Manchester City defender John Stones, even if they sign Lewis Dunk for £40 million. And that is bad news for West Ham, with David Moyes thought to be after the 26-year-old centre-back.

ExWHUemployee claimed last week that the east London outfit want to sign the Man City ace this summer.

Hammers manager Moyes will be desperate to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

But it is clear that Frank Lampard will be keen to do the same at Stamford Bridge.

And with Pep Guardiola willing to sanction Stones’s exit from the Etihad this summer (Guardian), a move to Chelsea would surely appeal to the 26-year-old.

It is clear to see that West Ham will have their work cut-out if they are to sign the 39-capped England international this summer.

Stats

Stones played just 16 Premier League games for Pep Guardiola last season. In those outings, he has averaged one tackle, 0.6 interceptions and 1.9 clearances per game (Who Scored).

Although the City ace didn’t play much last season, he is still a truly top talent. Sure, he makes the odd mistake, but there are not many better than him at playing out from the back.

The Sun reported at the start of this month that Stones could be available for around £20 million this summer.

And despite the current financial climate., that could represent excellent value for whichever club wins the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.

As things stand, however, it seems as though West Ham will struggle to beat Chelsea to Stones this summer.
