West Ham captain Mark Noble received praise from two of his team-mates after his match-winning performance against Watford.

Noble scored twice as West Ham ended the season with a flourish; three wins on the trot secured a top-half finish at Watford’s expense.

Over the course of the season (and in previous seasons), Noble has had his critics. Certain sections of the fanbase have directed their frustration at the skipper in the recent past.

But he has silenced his critics with some sensational performances lately. The 32-year-old, who celebrated his birthday last week, showed that he has still got the talent to compete at the top level.

West Ham pair on Mark Noble

Noble’s contributions recently were recognised by both Declan Rice and Jack Wilshere. Rice and Wilshere play alongside Noble in central midfield and respect how well he’s been playing.

After the Watford game, Rice singled Noble out for praise. The England midfielder said: “wait… how good has mark noble been recently? unbelievable. Pleasure playing with him.”

Meanwhile, ex-Arsenal midfielder Wilshere has recently returned from injury and has been impressed too. But the 27-year-old was keen to stress that Noble’s performance levels have been exceptional all season.

Wilshere tweeted: “Shout out to the skipper, not just for yesterday but for the whole season! Like a fine wine.”

Noble is now West Ham’s second top scorer in the Premier League era. He is just one place behind Paolo Di Canio on West Ham’s top scorer list and he has truly etched his name in folklore in East London.
