Trip down memory lane for ex-Chelsea boys Declan Rice, Rhian Brewster, Eddie Nketiah and others

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has been reminiscing about his old Chelsea days on Twitter.

Rice came through the ranks as a schoolboy at Chelsea before joining West Ham aged 14. Current Chelsea defender Reece James has posted a picture of the old youth team on the pitch at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea youth team full of gems

There are several well-known players in this Chelsea youth team – some of whom might be recognisable. And not all of them are still at Chelsea – in fact, quite a few have since departed.

Rice obviously left Chelsea to join West Ham. Alongside Mason Mount, there are two England internationals in this crop of Chelsea starlets.

WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.

But then there are some others who have represented England at youth levels up to the U21s. This includes Reece James (who posted the picture), Eddie Nketiah and Rhian Brewster.

Chelsea had both Brewster and Nketiah on their books at youth level. Brewster is now at Liverpool and he is a highly-rated talent. Nketiah is an Arsenal striker, who is currently on loan at Leeds United and impressing.

Frank Lampard has had success with the Blues this season by ripping up the previous blueprints. Rather than sign expensive players, he has used his youngsters. This has allowed some like Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham to blossom.
