West Ham United jet off to Spain on Tuesday for a winter training camp.

It is a subject which often divides fans, particularly at West Ham.

Usually because it means the club is out of the FA Cup for another year.

This year is no different with supporters split over whether the players need or deserve a break away.

Back-to-back draws have stopped the rot but the Hammers are without a win in over month.

Winter training camp divides opinion

Fulham at home next time out offers them the perfect opportunity to put that right.

And Pellegrini clearly feels getting some winter sun on their backs will help.

West Ham are heading to Malaga, one of Pellegrini’s old stomping grounds.

The Chilean has said there will be some team-bonding trips while they are away.

So surely a must-see is the roundabout that has famously been named after Pellegrini to honour his time at the Spanish club.

Pellegrini roundabout is a Hammers photo opportunity

Pellegrini managed Malaga for three seasons, leading them to their best ever league finish, into the Champions League for the first time in their history and within moments of making the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition.

His efforts at the club were recognised when the Hammers manager had a roundabout named after him back in October (Malaga website).

While it may seem a bizarre honour, it goes to show just how highly Pellegrini is regarded in the club’s history.

And the Hammers boss clearly appreciated the gesture judging by his reaction on Twitter.

“Thanks a lot to Malaga for this recognition and the affection they have given me,” Pellegrini posted with a picture of him and his wife visiting the new landmark at the time.

“I have always said that one of the best decisions of my life was to come here, where I had three unforgettable years. We look forward to seeing you at Malaga again at first next season.”

Bizarre proof West Ham have the right man

With West Ham training back in Pellegrini’s old haunt, you would expect the roundabout would make for a great photo opportunity with the squad.

And while some may snigger it may also provide a bit of inspiration.

It offers proof West Ham have done well to get a manager of Pellegrini’s calibre.

That will not be lost on the Hammers squad either particularly the younger players.
