West Ham have decided to let Reece Oxford leave the club on loan at the end of the January transfer window.

The club’s official website announced Oxford’s temporary departure as he joins FC Augsburg for the remainder of the season.

Having spent last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, Oxford is returning to Germany for the rest of the campaign.

The 20-year-old will join Augsburg, who sit 15th in the Bundesliga table and need to clamber away from the relegation zone.

But West Ham fans are not pleased with this decision, especially in light of their injury concerns at the moment.

With Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid out injured, they feel that Oxford could do a job at centre-back, especially with Angelo Ogbonna’s form under scrutiny.

And the England under-20 starlet can also play as a central midfielder – another area that West Ham are light in.
