West Ham United are going to extreme lengths in a bid to get their Rush Green training base up and running.
That’s according to Sky Sports ‘insider’ Kaveh Solhekol.
West Ham’s battle against relegation is on hold after football was shut down in March due to the global health crisis.
The country has since gone into lockdown. And there is growing uncertainty over when, how and indeed IF West Ham’s season will resume.
Football season still in limbo
The West Ham hierarchy will be involved in the Premier League’s latest summit on Friday.
Sky Sports claims ‘Operation Restart’ will be discussed in detail with plans to recommence on June 8th.
Hammers vice-chairman Karren Brady became the first Premier League club official to break ranks and comment publicly on the football shutdown in March.
She made her feelings clear that the season should be declared null and void (The Sun). Brady later backtracked after reportedly receiving a dressing down from co-owner David Sullivan (The Daily Mail).
And now it appears West Ham are as keen as anyone to get things up and running again.
Sky Sports ‘insider’ lifts lid on extreme measures at Rush Green
That’s after Solhekol revealed in his latest ‘insider’ column the measures the East Londoners are putting in place at Rush Green to enable players to get back to training.
“West Ham United’s Rush Green training ground is open to players but with strict conditions attached,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports.
“They are operating a one in one out policy and players have all been notified of the conditions. Some West Ham players live in apartments and have limited access to outdoor spaces to maintain their fitness.
West Ham put time buffer in place
“By allowing them access to the training ground, West Ham are helping them stay in shape.
“Players book when they want to come in. And they have to arrive in their own cars in their own training kit. There is also a time buffer between each 60-minute session to make sure players don’t come across each other.
“Players using the training ground have been told the main building remains out of bounds so they have to bring anything they may need with them. That includes water and towels. And they have to wait until they get back home to have a shower.”
