West Ham signed Jack Wilshere on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.
The 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, however.
Wilshere has made just 16 appearances for the Hammers. And he only has one goal and one assist to his name.
The former Arsenal man earns £100,000 per week at West Ham, according to Spotrac, and that is now looking like a huge waste of money.
Signing Carlos Sanchez and Roberto were terrible moves from Manuel Pellegrini, but offering Wilshere such a lucrative contract for three years really does seem rather farcical now.
The 34-capped England international is constantly fighting injury problems, and when he has played, he has looked totally off the pace.
There has been talk that Wilshere could be heading to the MLS soon (the Sun). And if West Ham are offered any kind of fee for the injury-prone midfielder, they should take it without hesitation.
Signing someone with his injury record up on such a long-term deal is verging on criminal from the east London outfit.
And West Ham cannot afford to make mistakes like this again.
Pellegrini and Husillos have made plenty of questionable decisions in the transfer market.
But bringing in a crock like Wilshere has to rank up there with the very worst.
