Jamie Carragher raved about Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham when speaking on Sky Sports last night (Monday December 21st, 22:02). And the Sky Sports pundit’s comment on the Blues ace exposed Sebastien Haller and his weaknesses badly.

The 26-year-old striker joined the Hammers from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for around £45 million (BBC).

Laying out that massive fee is now looking like a huge mistake from West Ham.

Sure, our system is not set up to suit the Ivory Coast international. But the striker quite simply needs to do more.

Sebastien Haller has no pace whatsoever. That’s fine, but he should be making a nuisance of himself in other ways.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt forward is incredibly weak in the air. The 26-year-old never seems to hold the ball up and he rarely offers an outlet for our defenders.

Jamie Carragher summed up perfectly what Haller is missing when praising Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham last night:

“Abraham was brilliant. In terms of centre-forward play. That strength, that power, holding the centre-backs off. How he lays it off and drags defenders out of position.”

Sebastien Haller faces a bleak future at the London Stadium.

David Moyes makes it painfully obvious that he isn’t a fan of the 6ft 3in hitman. It really would be no surprise if the 26-year-old is moved on either in January or next summer.

And unless Haller learns how to influence games like Tammy Abraham did last night, he will continue to struggle in a West Ham shirt.
