Well respected football journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed that alleged West Ham target Sami Khedira will leave Juventus on a free transfer after having his contract in Turin terminated.

In other news…Have West Ham just been given a huge Declan Rice boost amidst £80m price-tag claims?

Hammers fans are still reeling from the news that Grady Diangana is heading to West Brom.

We are all obviously fuming with how the club is being run. And the only way that Diangana’s sale will be in any way acceptable is if David Moyes brings two or three much needed reinforcements to the London Stadium.

Ideally, those signings would be a new left-back, right-back or centre-back and a new centre-forward.

It could also be argued that we lack any kind of depth in central midfield as well, however.

Calcio Mercato claimed back in April that West Ham boss David Moyes wants to sign Sami Khedira this summer.

And the German World Cup winner, who earns £130,000 per week according to Silly Season, will now be available on a free transfer according to Nicolo Schira:

So would Khedira be a sensible addition for the Hammers?

He has obviously enjoyed a wonderfully successful career, with seven league titles, a Champions League and a World Cup to his name.

The problem is that Khedira, 33, doesn’t fit into the age profile of signings Moyes insists he wants to make this summer.

The German is certainly not young and he clearly doesn’t have a point to prove to anyone.

The last thing we need is to sign another ageing star who is past his best and would undoubtedly command extortionate wages.

The Juventus ace has also suffered horrendous problems with injuries over the past few years.

So this is definitely one to avoid for West Ham. We need energy and dynamism in the team. There was a time when that was what Khedira’s game was all about. But those days are long gone.
