Said Benrahma's superb hat-trick should excite West Ham fans, but Chelsea have reportedly already opened talks

Foot Mercato claimed last month that West Ham are interested in signing Brentford ace Said Benrahma this summer. But the 24-year-old winger is also a target for Chelsea (RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi).

In fact, the Blues have already opened talks with the talented ace:

ExWHUemployee has also suggested that the pacy winger is a target for Hammers boss David Moyes.

The Scot could be on the look-out for a new winger this summer. Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko face uncertain futures at the London Stadium (Claret and Hugh).

The same could be said for Blues boss Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

Hakim Ziyech will be arriving in west London at the end of the season. But Willian could be set to leave Chelsea.

So Said Benrahma would be a fantastic addition for either West Ham or Chelsea.

Stats

The Algeria international has been absolutely on fire for the Bees this season. He has racked up 14 goals and eight assists in 38 Championship appearances for the west London outfit (Who Scored).

In those outings, the Benrahma has averaged 3.7 shots, 2.3 key passes and 2.9 dribbles per game (Who Scored).

The 24-year-old was in sensational form at the weekend. He scored a superb hat-trick for Brentford against Wigan. And he gave the Hammers and the Blues a taste of what they could expect if either of the two London clubs sign him this summer.

Thomas Frank will surely be desperate to keep him at Griffin Park at the end of the season, however.

Benrahma has undoubtedly been one of the best players in the Championship this season, if not the best.

The problem for West Ham will be Benrahma’s alleged £36 million asking price (La Gazette du Fennec).

The same cannot be said of Chelsea. The Blues should easily be able to afford that kind of fee.

Hammers fans should be excited at the prospect of the Algerian rocking up at the London Stadium this summer. Especially after Saturday’s scintillating hat-trick.

But if Chelsea have indeed open talks with Benrahma, West Ham’s dream could be over before it even really started.
