West Ham have made a first bid for Napoli defender Maksimovic, according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks before the transfer window shuts next month.
But the trouble for the Scot is that he has a limited budget to spend this summer.
But with the Daily Mail claiming that Maksimovic is valued at just £14 million, it is easy to see why West Ham are allegedly interested in signing the Napoli defender.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the 25-capped Serbia international is a target for West Ham this summer. In fact, it is suggested that the east London outfit have already made an offer for the Napoli man.
West Ham are allegedly hoping to beat Fulham to the defender’s signature.
Stats
Maksimovic made 23 Serie A appearances for Napoli last season, racking up one goal and one assist in the process (Who Scored).
In those appearances, he averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per game. He also won an average of 1.8 aerial duals per match during that period (Who Scored).
The Serbioan ace can operate at right-back as well as centre-back. So signing him for around £14 million would be decent business for West Ham.
Let’s just hope we manage to get this one done with the minimum of fuss.
