Hammers boss David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his right-back options at the London Stadium this summer.
Jeremy Ngakia is set to leave at the end of the month on a free transfer, whilst Pablo Zabaleta will be on his way at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Ryan Fredericks has failed to impress since joining West Ham on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.
So it is easy to see why the Hammers have been linked with Clyne.
Read Liverpool claims that Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is not even prepared to offer the 29-year-old an extended deal until the end of the season.
And the £70k-a-week ace (Spotrac) will be free to leave Anfield on a free transfer at the end of this month.
Good signing for West Ham?
Clyne joined Liverpool from Southampton in the summer of 2015 for around €17.6 million (£15.8 million), according to Bleacher Report.
He has played second fiddle to Trent Alexander-Arnold since the youngster burst onto the scene at Anfield, however.
In 185 Premier League appearances, the right-back has racked up an impressive 471 tackles, with a success rate of 69%. He has also made 276 interceptions and chalked up 30 blocked shots (premierleague.com).
In those games, the 29-year-old has whipped in 467 crosses and completed 252 accurate long balls (premierleague.com).
Clyne has experienced terrible problems with injuries over the past few years, however. The last thing West Ham need is another injury prone, ageing player on a massive salary.
Perhaps this is one that the Hammers should avoid.
