According to a report from the Sun, West Ham have made a £25 million bid for £150k-a-week Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car.
In other news…Manchester City allegedly weighing up mammoth £60m deal and it’s great news for West Ham
Hammers boss David Moyes has been frantically searching for a new centre-back over the past month or so.
Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal have both arrived at the London Stadium on permanent deals.
And now we need another centre-back and a centre-forward. But the addition of a defender is clearly Moyes’s priority.
And the Sun reckons the man West Ham want is Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car. The east London outfit have allegedly submitted a £25 million bid for the 24-year-old.
And what a superb signing he would be for us.
Well-renowned football analysis and scouting website IBWM described Caleta-Car as an ‘exceptional talent’.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the six-capped Croatia international is aerially dominant, and he possesses all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
Stats
In 23 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season, the 24-year-old scored one goal and registered one assist. In those outings, the Croatian averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 4.1 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.4 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Caleta-Car would be a truly brilliant addition for the Hammers. Our defence would all of a sudden look fairly decent with the Croatian playing alongside Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop as a three man unit.
Let’s hope there is some real substance behind this and it doesn’t just end up being paper talk.
