According to a report from the Guardian, West Ham are lining up a last minute swoop for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.
It seems as though there will be a late scramble from David Moyes as he looks to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium before tomorrow’s deadline.
The Hammers earned a magnificent three points away at Leicester today.
And if we can get one or two quality signings over the line before the transfer window slams shut, we could actually enjoy a very decent campaign this season.
The addition of a centre-back is clearly an absolute must for West Ham.
And the Guardian claims that Moyes is eyeing a quick-fire deal for Arsenal man Calum Chambers.
But it is unclear as to whether the Hammers will attempt to loan Chambers or buy him. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is prepared to let the former Southampton ace leave the Emirates this summer, either on loan or permanently, according to the Express.
The 25-year-old Arsenal ace made 14 Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season.
In those outings, he averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.6 aerial duals per game (Who Scored).
Chambers’ horrendous injury record will undoubtedly be a concern for the Hammers. But it could be argued that the Arsenal man would be a solid addition for us. Perhaps not for the quoted price of £12 million, however.
