According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham are submitting a £15 million bid for Swansea centre-back Joe Rodon.

The Hammers’ need to sign a new centre-back this summer has been well-documented.

It seems as though our pursuit of Burnley ace James Tarkowski is destined for failure.

Meanwhile, a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani appears to have hit the buffers with Cadena Cope reporting that the Italian is closing in on a move to La Liga side Valencia.

And Football Insider claims that West Ham boss David Moyes has turned his attention to Swansea City ace Joe Rodon. It is suggested that the east London outfit will make a £15 million bid for the 22-year-old imminently.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg claimed last week that the Hammers want to sign the Welshman. And it now seems as though we are accelerating our interest.

The 22-year-old is valued at around £20 million, according to the Daily Mail. That is obviously a lot of money, but at least the Swansea ace is a young and exciting talent. And he certainly fits into the profile of player Moyes wants to bring to the London Stadium.

And if West Ham can pick him up for £15 million, as Football Insider claims we may be able to, that might just represent excellent value for us.

Stats

Rodon made 21 Championship appearances for Swansea last season. In those outings, he averaged one tackle, 1.6 interceptions and 5.4 clearances. The four-capped Wales international also won an average of 3.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old is the kind of player who could go on to become a genuine star centre-back.

Let’s just hope that we manage to get this one over the line without any hiccups.
