According to a report from the Express, West Ham are exploring the possibility of signing Porto hitman Moussa Marega this summer, after the Mali ace refused to sign a new deal with the Primeira Liga giants.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to add some attacking reinforcements to his ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill have been sold, leaving Sebastien Haller and Xande Silva as Moyes’s only two two recognised strikers.

The problem for West Ham and Moyes is that we clearly have no funds to spend. Or more likely, David Sullivan and David Gold aren’t prepared to back the Scot in the market.

That really is astounding, given the fact that we made £122 million from TV money and finishing 16th in the league last season, according to Sportekz.

It is what it is, however. And given the owners’ reluctance to back Moyes, it comes as no surprise that we are sniffing round for a bargain deal.

The Express claims that West Ham want to sign Porto hitman Moussa Marega. The 29-year-old could be available for a bargain fee after he rejected the Portuguese outfit’s latest contract offer.

With his current deal set to expire next summer, the Hammers may be able to pick him up for a nominal fee before the start of next season.

And he wouldn’t be the worse addition to David Moyes’s squad.

Stats

The 24-capped Mali international has scored 106 goals in 274 career appearances (Transfermarkt).

Marega racked up 15 goals and nine assists in 45 games for Porto last season (Transfermarkt). The powerful striker is a hard worker, and would provide competent support for Sebastien Haller.

The 29-year-old is explosive, powerful and fast, according to a scouting report from Soccer Souls. So he should be ideally suited to the robust and intense nature of the Premier League.

And if West Ham can pick Marega up for a bargain fee, he might just turn out to be a hit at the London Stadium next season.
