The Daily Mail have claimed that West Ham are ready to press on with their interest in Chelsea ace Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

And TEAMtalk suggest that a deal to bring the 24-year-old Blues ace to the London Stadium could be wrapped up before Monday’s transfer deadline.

They also stipulate one very big caveat, however. Chelsea could allegedly use West Ham’s interest in Loftus-Cheek to help engineer one final attempt to sign Declan Rice.

Despite our need for a centre-back and a centre-forward, our lack of strength in depth in central midfield cannot be overlooked.

Most West Ham fans would surely love to see Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek at the London Stadium.

But at the same time, none of us would want it to happen if it meant Declan Rice joining up with Frank Lampard’s side at Stamford Bridge.

Let’s just hope we will be able to sign Loftus-Cheek without the need to sell Rice. Because he would certainly be useful addition for us.

Stats

The 24-year-old barely played last season having sustained a serious injury in the summer of 2019.

He did enjoy a fabulous campaign in the 2018/19 season, however, racking up 10 goals and five assists for Chelsea in 35 appearances (Who Scored).

A loan deal to sign Loftus-Cheek seems to be the most likely outcome for West Ham. The Daily Mail claims that Chelsea want £25 million. And that might prove to be a stretch for the Hammers considering our current financial woes.
