According to a report from Football.London, West Ham beat Manchester United and Real Madrid to sign Krisztian Hegyi last year.

The 17-year-old Hungarian joined the Hammers Academy in May 2019 (WHUFC.com). And he is highly rated in east London.

West Ham are very well stocked in the goalkeeping department. They have Lukasz Fabianski and Darren Randolph in the first-team. And they have Nathan Trott and Joseph Anang coming through the ranks as well.

So Hegyi will clearly have to bid his time before he gets a chance with the first-team.

Football.London claims that the 17-year-old has already trained with the first-team, however. They also suggest that the Hammers beat Manchester United and Real Madrid to the signing of the teenager last May.

Hegyi has made 14 combined appearances for West Ham’s under 18’s and under 23’s. He has only kept two clean sheets during those outings, however (Transfermarkt). So the 17-year-old clearly has a lot of improving still to do.

Perhaps the youngster would benefit from a loan move away from the London Stadium over the next couple of years?

Hegyi has the talent, Manchester United and Real Madrid wouldn’t have wanted him otherwise.

But West Ham need to make sure they manage him properly over the few years.
