Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
And the same can be said of Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.
Everton clearly have more ambition and spending power than West Ham. But considering the fact that we were ready to spend £31 million on James Tarkowski (Sky Sports), we obviously have some cash at our disposal.
And Mundo Deportivo reckon both the Hammers and the Toffees are chasing Athletic Bilbao ace Unai Nunez.
The 23-year-old has a release clause worth £28 million according to Mundo Deportivo.
Stats
Nunez made 20 La Liga appearances for Athletic Bilbao last season. During those outings, the Spaniard averaged 0.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.5 clearances and 0.9 blocks per game. He also won an average of 2.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Nunez is a very cultured defender.
The Spaniard is described as a tall, strong centre-back who is very good in the air by Inside Athletic (official website for Athletic Bilbao). It is also suggested that the 23-year-old is a fantastic reader of the game.
And Spanish newspaper AS describes the Athletic Bilbao ace as the ‘next big thing’.
Nunez would be a very useful addition for either West Ham or Everton.
But whether the Hammers or the Toffees are prepared to activate his £28 million release clause remains to be seen.
